WHY WILDERNEST?

You matter to us; your travels, adventures, experiences and backcountry stories are all important. Sure, we dig it when our shops are full of people getting geared up to head out on their next adventure. But we also love meeting and chatting with people who are psyched about the same stuff we are or ogling maps on the counter for an hour with folks over a cup of coffee. We have a lot to keep track of maintaining two stores in two different towns, but our beliefs about and commitment to personalized retail has not changed.

It blows us away to think of all the places you can shop for outdoor equipment, clothing and accessories these days, from box stores to mail order and the Internet. But the Wildernest Outdoor Stores are locally owned and operated shops and the communities of Port Townsend and Bainbridge Island are as important to us as we are to them. We want our business to be a blessing to the residents, main streets and community organizations who we support and do business with.

Let's face it, any outdoor store or online retailer can sell you stuff. But the folks who work at the Wildernest stores also have a real knack for helping you find the right gear or clothing, whether it's for your next jaunt around the world or to go to the dog park down the road. They know all about the products that we sell, but are not the super agro, "type A" egomaniacs that some shops employ. They are regular (well...!) people who love their work and want an opportunity to not only serve you, but to get to know you as well.
